Coated Lid Stock / Heat-Seal Coated Lid
Description:
Coated Lid Stock is a specialized lidding material designed to create a hermetically sealed, breathable top for pre-formed thermoformed blister trays. It is a multi-layer laminate where a breathable substrate is coated with a heat-activated adhesive on one side.
1.Key Features:
Material: The substrate is typically Coated Tyvek® or coated medical-grade dialysis paper (60g/70g/80g). The coating is a proprietary heat-seal layer.
Format & Customization: Supplied in sheets or rolls, it is highly customizable in size, shape, and thickness. A key feature is its ability to be die-cut into various shapes and sizes to match different tray flanges precisely.
Function: It is combined with a blister box for heat sealing, where the adhesive coating melts to bond securely to the tray's rim, creating a peelable seal.
Sterilization & Printing: Compatible with EO and Irradiation sterilization. It supports flexible, multi-color printing, including sterilization process indicators.
2.Primary Advantages:
- Design Flexibility & Efficiency: Can be pre-cut to exact specifications, minimizing waste and simplifying the sealing process on automated lines.
- Reliable Sterile Barrier: Creates a validated, breathable seal that maintains sterility post-processing while allowing sterilant penetration during cycles.
- Secure Bonding: The specialized coating ensures a strong, consistent seal with common Blister tray materials (PETG, APET,PP,PS,PVC etc.), providing tamper evidence.
3.Main Applications:
Used exclusively to seal thermoformed blister trays containing medical devices. It is the critical component in creating a complete sterile barrier system for surgical instrument sets, orthopedic implants, and single-use device kits processed via low-temperature sterilization.
